Christmas 2008

B's first Christmas was a big hit! We really made the rounds and drove up to Helena to see Grandma & Grandpa Bourne and the rest of the family. Isaac and Avrie have apparently inherited the Bourne secret agent genes since they are obviously masters of disguise. How long will it take you to spot them?

Santa was able to find Brighton up there with no problems.

Never again will I whine about the "cold" in Utah as it was around 18 below zero the day this was taken. That gnarly icicle is solidified laundry steam! Eep!! It was really beautiful, though, and it wasn't that cold the whole time. It certainly was invigorating!

What hunks, eh?

Here's Brian and Jaxon spending some quality time hangin' and talkin' sports.

Brighton also got to meet his Great Grandma and Grandpa Brace who flew in from Kansas City. It was my first time meeting them too & we're so glad they made the trip!

Then, we headed waaay down south to San Diego to finish out the holiday with my side of the family. From icicles to palm trees, we love it all!

Not surprisingly, Santa paid a visit to B's San Diego lodgings as well!

B also got to meet his Great Grandma and Grandpa Bright

We had to introduce the child to the beach, as well! Next time it will be warm enough to hop in!

We love Christmas! It was so great to see everyone. We're so lucky to have such awesome families!!

The latest..

What's new with us? Well, we are both up to our eyeballs in schoolwork - especially Brian. It's unbelievable how many tests, case studies, proposals and such he has to do - not to mention studying for his big CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst - hope I got that right!) exam in December. You should see one of his books - maybe I'll post one of his exam questions next time just for fun. It looks like Japanese to me! He tries to read them to me and my mind starts to wander off to other things and all of the sudden he's looking at me and saying "you know?" and I'm like, "....uh....I think my phone is ringing...gotta go!" :) U go Bri!!

Brighton just keeps getting cuter!! Here he is modeling the new shoes my sister got him when we went to the mall - what a sweet auntie!

This is the face he uses to get me to stop doing homework and play with him - works every time.

If he can't be outside, he at least likes to keep tabs on what's going on out there.

I had one of those moments where I really needed some kind of change - nothing a bottle of Nice n Easy from the grocery store couldn't cure (okay, two bottles)! I bought it and then decided to maybe just return it and Brian called me a chicken so, of course, it was ON! I'm kinda diggin' on it, too!!

Well, I think most of you know already but Brighton crawled for the first time on October 23!! He is now a complete expert and is all over the place. He's been trying lots of new foods but we're still waiting for some teeth to show themselves so he can really get in on the action!

Grandma & Grandpa Bourne are in town this weekend!!! Will post pics next time!

P.S. GO UTES!!!!!

Halloween at Brighton's House

Arrrr mateys, surrender ye booty (and also any snacks you might have - this little pirate has a new obsession with food and if you have some and don't share...well, let's just say you probably oughtta share..).

A sea wench, her scurvy sailor, and the captain.

The captain after one too many treats.

Brian is surprisingly festive around Halloween. He even makes root beer with scary dry ice fog (and who couldn't love the sweet skull punch bowl he got - it "bleeds" your beverage out of its eyeballs, awesome!)

You don't think it's weird that we pierced his ear for a Halloween costume, do you? :)

He even raided the candy bowl, but thankfully he doesn't know you can take the wrapper off - sssh!

CUTEST. PIRATES.

EVER.

It snowed again a few days after Halloween, causing Brighton's little pumpkin to cry. The cold may actually preserve our pumpkins for a few days so we can get some more input on whose is best (we are very competitive with these kind of things).

Oh, The Fun B Has

Just a few of Brighton's favorite things:

Sailing in his 'boat',

eating toast

...and berries,

jammin' on his 'drumset',

jumpin',

relaxing with a good book,

bein' silly with Mom,

jeepin' with Dad,

and peeking out to see if Mom & Dad are awake yet (though this method quickly became obsolete once he figured out how to pull himself up and really survey the situation).

Long Overdue Updates - more to come...

My mom & my bro-in-law have bdays within a couple days of eachother, sooo we celebrated them together by going up to our favorite little picnic spot at Brighton (of course!). I made some freaking awesome shishkebabs and it rained while we ate them.

There were so many trees, though, that we really didn't get too wet and it was sooooo pretty. Fall rocks big time!!

I got to put Brighton in his little pack and trek around with him & his cousin Alaric, who is learning to talk - so much fun!!! These boys are cuter than a fuzzy monkey!

Also, Brian is totally the best & got me these SUPER SWEET shoes that allowed me to stand IN THE WATER and still have dry feet. Wow, I feel kinda invincible in them to tell the truth!

That was so much fun.

Then, just a short few weeks later, it SNOWED!!

Look how CUTE my guys are!!! Talk about snow babes- woo! We're so excited for Brighton to get to check out the snow once it actually sticks & we can do some sledding and snowman building.

Little B has been growing up like crazy!! He can pull himself up to a standing position like nobody's business and is now eating all kinds of different foods (well, "eating" is a relative term there, but he's working on it!) He is very vocal and loves to show off his incredible, resonant voice. I am sure that all of our neighbors are acutely aware of Brighton's developing vocal chords - oh well, how can they be mad at such a cute little guy? They couldn't, I'm sure! :)
